Nokia phones are know to get regular Android updates and, in fact, it one their biggest USPs. It looks another Nokia phone — entry-level device — has got the Android 11 update. According to a report by Phonearena, HMD Global, the company that holds license to sell Nokia phones, has rolled out Android 11 update to Nokia 1.3.
A post on Nokia community webpage also confirmed the update. However, it will only be available in Australia to begin with and reach other markets soon. The post on the webpage reads, “Hello Nokia 1.3 users, Great news for you, the rollout for Android 11 starts now! To provide a smooth rollout, we dispatch the Update in Waves. Wave 1includes Australia. 100% of the rollout is expected to be completed by July 24.”
Wave 2 will see other countries get the Android 11 update on Nokia 1.3. In case you are wondering what’s the difference between Wave and Wave 2, Nokia explains it on its website. “There’s no change in the delivery method or rollout timelines. It’s just about where the builds can, or cannot, be received. In short: Wave 1 list shows markets where approval has been given; Wave 2 are markets where approval has not yet been given.”
Nokia also said that “we cannot share specific details as timelines are different per market. We recommend you regularly check your device for the update or keep an eye on your local Nokia phones communications. But rest assured, we’re all working at full speed to get you up to Android 11 ASAP!”
