Squarespace, the e-commerce platform and all-in-one website builder, announced its first Australia-specific campaign, “Make a Name for Yourself.” The aim of the campaign is to inspire, encourage and celebrate local entrepreneurship.
The “Make a Name” campaign consists of two ads. Each narrative follows a protagonist’s personal journey and the nicknames they receive throughout their lives. Ultimately, the protagonist is able to launch an online business with Squarespace and make a name for himself.
Squarespace CEO Kinjil Mathur said: “At Squarespace, we empower entrepreneurs to pursue their passions, no matter where they are on their journey. The idea of exploiting the way Australians get nicknames felt like an inspiring way to show off the possibilities of launching an online business that is truly yours. “
Research shows that the growth of e-commerce in Australia has accelerated as a result of the pandemic, with more companies never opting for an online presence. Only in March 2021 was there one 42% year-on-year growth in online shopping orders. The campaign aims to encourage entrepreneurs to draw inspiration from their personal experiences and turn their ideas into a beautiful online business that reflects who they are.
Director Sam Hibbard, in collaboration with Los Angeles producer Somesuch, and Australian service company FINCH, are leading the campaign. The ads were produced locally in and around Sydney.
Hibbard said: “The cultural talent to nickname it all is something that is so deeply Australian. I love all of our protagonists and as their nicknames grow they can inspire a business idea. “
The campaign will be published on television, radio, online video and on the social network.
