Anwar Hossain was a man of values, principal, punctuality. He was successful as a man, businessman, and leader. Young entrepreneurs should follow Hossain as a model of success, speakers said while commemorating Hossain yesterday.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) organised the discussion at its auditorium to recall the contribution of Hossain, founder chairman of Anwar Group of Industries and DCCI Foundation.

Tofail Ahmed, veteran lawmaker and former commerce minister, said Hossain was an honest and ethical businessman in Bangladesh.
“He (Hossain) created 22 industries having 14,000 workforces. Today’s young business leaders have a lot to learn from Hossain,” Ahmed said adding that people will remember him forever for his good deeds.
DCCI President Rizwan Rahman said Anwar Hossain wanted to create employment opportunities for at least 50,000 people in his lifetime.
He was a kind-hearted leader who never made any difference between his family members and workers, Rahman said.
M A Sattar, former president of DCCI, said Anwar Hossain had a keen insight to select perfect leadership.
Mahbubur Rahman, also the former president of DCCI and president of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh, said Hossain’s entrepreneurial capacity is rare.
“Hossain was successful as a man, as a businessman, as a leader and as a father also. He had a great contribution towards industry, commerce, and employment generation, upliftment of economy and to the society at large,” he said.
FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin, former presidents of DCCI Aftab-Ul Islam, Abul Kasem Khan, and Anwar Hossain’s sons Manwar Hossain, group managing director of Anwar Group and Hossian Khaled, also formers president of DCCI other business leaders, friends, well-wishers joined the programme and remembered him.
Anwar Hossain passed away on August 17 at the age of 83.
